A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history. -- Mohandas Gandhi

I grew up on a sisal plantation north of Dar es salaam surrounded by coastal forest and learned how to handle guns and hunt from a young age. Both my grandparents were hunters and so was my father, thus I knew from a young age that I wanted to become a professional hunter. I passionately read all the great African hunting books I could get my hands on and my favorite authors like John Hunter, Karamojo Bell, Ernest Hemingway, Robert Ruark, Brian Herne, Eric Rundgren and FC Selous, I read many times over.

Growing up, I dreamed of joining the ranks of our homegrown Tanzanian star Professional hunters that I admired, like Luke and Timo Samaras, George Angelides, Gerald Miller, Gary Hoops, Ricky and Rolf Trappe.

As a teenager, I was further very fortunate to being exposed to and influenced by the African conservation and wildlife science world. Jane Goodall, who was a close family friend, encouraged me strongly towards the scientific conservation world and so did the late Alan Rogers. I started to split my readings between hunting books and African wildlife conservationists, Game Wardens, Zoologists, Biologists, wildlife science, researchers and Animal behavioral scientists, devouring the books of Goodall, Douglas Hamilton, Shaller, Grzimek, Moss, Adamson, Kingdon, Turner, Ionides, Nicolson, Kinlock, Sheldrick, Van Lawick and many more.

Here, the 2 worlds came together for me; the Professional Hunting world of my dreams and the Conservation and Wildlife Science world necessary to keep dreams of hunting alive forever.  A passion and determination grew that the old hunting days of plenty could be re-created and preserved for future generations.

Despite me wanting to become a Professional Hunter, my family felt it better to get further education first. In 1983 l was sent to Oregon to study Zoology and Wildlife Science at the University of Oregon and Lane community college. Upon my return I embarked on my career as Professional Hunter and Conservationist and apprenticed first with Wengert Windrose Safaris and after with my childhood idol, Luke Samaras. My passion for hunting, combined with my enriched knowledge and dedication for Wildlife Conservation has helped distinguish myself both in trophy quality and success rate as well as conservation and anti poaching.
